Free of headaches and migraines, pain is debilitating for sure, but there is something about a headache or a migraine that makes them unbearable.

At our acupuncture clinics, Dr Mark McAuliffe treats his patients bringing some welcome relief for those who suffer from debilitating head and neck pain. Using Advanced Tung Style Acupuncture, Mark often surprises and delights his patients when fine acupuncture needles inserted in their hands and knee area relieves the pain in their head. Mark says “Of all the allied medical systems l have used and treated with, acupuncture stands out from the others, especially Tung Acupuncture”.

Mark favours this style of acupuncture because of the quick and positive results he and his patients see. “Master Tung’s acupuncture is very safe and most of the points are quite different from other acupuncture methods utilising simpler diagnosis and fewer treatment points,” says Dr McAuliffe.

Master Tung Ching Chang has been referred to as one of the greatest acupuncturists who ever lived and he is acknowledged to have needled with acupuncture over 4 million times. Fortunately, his style of acupuncture has been handed down and refined over the years.

A scholar of the I-Ching, Master Tung Ching Chang was a traditional Chinese physician from the Shandong Province in northern China. He became famous for the miraculous and spontaneous results he obtained using just a few acupuncture needles in unique anatomical point locations.

Master Tung’s style of acupuncture was and still is considered special because the placement of needles are often in areas opposite to the affected area. “For example, when treating a headache, in Tung Acupuncture we insert the needles in the hands and knee area and when treating a sore foot, needles are inserted into the opposite hand to that foot. In most cases, the patient notices the effect immediately upon insertion of the needle,” explains Dr McAuliffe.

“Being results oriented with my healing work it is the point locations, using the Dao Ma needling method peculiar to Tung method, as well as Master Tung’s comprehensive theoretical principles that make this style of acupuncture fascinating to me and also my favoured style of treatment,” said Dr McAuliffe.
